Some laws server a practical purpose in our society such as governing property rights, however there other laws which reflect the moral values of our general society. This relationship between law and morality can be extremely controversial and questionable towards many. For example abortion; is it the governments business what a women does with her child? Does it violate her rights? Laws that are based on morality, play a large role in the values, attitudes and beliefs of Canadian society.
